It’s an invasion of privacy and it’s a shitty thing to do, and she is in her right to be offended, however if you’ve ever been the victim of sexual assault or abuse, when people throw around that word it fucking hurts. It hurts because that person is not in a place where there’s a direct, threatening power dynamic. Yeah, it would fucking suck if someone shared naked photos of me online, however I think the repeated sexual abuse I went through as a child is a little worse then that.
Using those words to describe that situation diminishes their meaning, and it’s truly, truly disgusting. Jennifer Lawrence is a multi-millionaire who, though she might be in a bad place right now, will eventually be able to move on from this with her dignity and reputation intact, while there are people who have suffered and who continue to suffer who will bare those marks for the rest of their lives. Think before you brand this as something it just isn’t. Words fucking matter.

Well it is kind of a sexual offence to steal someone's nude photos and share them without permission. If someone shared a photo of you naked without your consent wouldn't you feel violated? Maybe it's not physical sexual assault but it is a sex crime to hack someone's iCloud, steal their photos, and release them publicly to the world.
